Mono Lake is located high the East side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains north of Bishop and south of Lake Tahoe. Surrounded by high mountains, formed and pock-marked by volcanic action, it's a mecca for millions of migrating birds. The highly saline lake is filled with brine shrimp and flies, providing perfect avian rest stop. Here's a painting based on this photo
